Japanese Screw Punch

If you make journals, do leather (or faux leather) crafts or make anything with eyelets/snap fasteners, this Japanese Screw Punch is priceless. If you have arthritis or carpal tunnel, it allows you to make holes much more easily and accurately than lever punches. It's also very handy if you need to make holes but usually use a hammer. As it's so much quieter, it allows you to work late (like our Nik!!) without disturbing your neighbours.

They come with a set of different sized punch tips from 1mm to 4.5mm. To use them, you just choose the tip size you need, twist the holder, slip out the tip already in place and replace with the one you need, twisting the holder in the opposite direction to secure it in place. Then, you just push the screw punch handle down where you need your hole.
It may take 2 or 3 pushes, depending on how thick your material is. For example, paper or card up to 160gsm is easily punched with one push. 200gsm to 350gsm may take two pushes and leather may take 3. It also depends on how hard you are able to push the punch down.
You can buy this punch easily on Amazon or eBay.
